The Bulgarian Dance Group presents traditional folk dances from Bulgaria. They are a group of Bulgarians who cherish their native culture and are passionate about dancing. The Bulgarian community in Spokane is very small, but its members try to keep their traditions and customs alive. Bulgarian dances are unique and usually performed in a circle, representing the dancers’ unity. Through their dances, they bring the spirit of Bulgaria to different places in the world. They hope you enjoy their performance and experience a glimpse of their small but tradition-rich country of Bulgaria. Previously, the group has taken part in Open Arms Cultural Elegance, a Fashion Show at the Northern Quest Resort & Casino, and performed at the annual Spokane Fall Folk Festival, the 30th Anniversary of the ESL Conference at Mukogawa Institute in Spokane, and the International Cultural Exchange at the Coeur d’Alene Casino.

Shaheena Safahri, an instructor, performer, and choreographer, is a highly acclaimed Middle Eastern dancer and global fusion artist. She has been involved in dance and movement arts for over 40 years and has taught classes and workshops across the US. Shaheena performs every Friday evening at Azar’s Restaurant, 2501 N Monroe St in Spokane, and at various events around the area and across the country.
