this year's T-shirts and posters?
Spokane Fall Folk Festival is Calling for Artwork Submissions

The Spokane Fall Folk Festival is inviting graphic design proposals for promotional materials and merchandise, including programs, posters, T-shirts, buttons, and other advertising, for the 2026 Fall Folk Festival. This year’s event will take place on November 14 and 15 at Spokane Community College.

Designs should capture the essence of the festival’s theme: “31 Years of Celebrating Spokane’s Cultural Diversity.” While incorporating elements of Spokane’s diversity, history, and landmarks is encouraged, it is not mandatory. We will assess submissions based on design quality, color, originality, and adaptability across various graphic formats.

The contest seeks graphics suitable for online and print materials, as well as T-shirts and buttons. The design must be flexible, easily resizable, look good in both black and white and color, and be printable at high quality.

Entrants must ensure that their submissions do not resemble any existing copyrighted images.

The Fall Folk Festival sponsors this contest and is open to all, regardless of experience. Participants may submit multiple designs; however, each design must be submitted individually. The winner will receive $300 for their contribution, a T-shirt featuring their design, and acknowledgment in the festival program. The selected design will become the property of the Spokane Folklore Society, which may use design elements independently for the applications mentioned above. We recommend that designers provide examples of how their design, or parts of it, might look on a poster, T-shirt, and button.

Poster Design Parameters
  • The poster design size is 11 inches wide x 17 inches tall.
  • The following text must be included in your poster design:
               “Spokane Folklore Society Presents”
               “Spokane Fall Folk Festival”
               “2026”
“31 Years of Celebrating Our Cultural Diversity”
“Saturday, November 14, 11:00 am to 8:00 pm and Sunday, November 15, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.”
               “6 Stages – over 100 performers”
“Spokane Community College, Lair Student Center, 1810 N Greene Street”
               “FREE ADMISSION / FREE PARKING”
               “spokanefolkfestival.org”
               “(509) 828-3683”
  • Sponsor information will be provided later. Sponsors’ names and logos must appear in a footer at the bottom of the poster.
  • Submit the poster design in .pdf, .jpeg, or .png format at 300 dpi for the contest committee to review.

T-Shirt Design Parameters
  • The design will be printed on the front of the T-shirt.
  • The design may use a maximum of four (4) colors.
  • Submit the T-shirt design in a vector file format, such as .eps, .ai, or .cdr.
  • Also submit the T-shirt design in .jpeg or .png format at 300 dpi for the contest committee’s review.
  • You are welcome to suggest suitable T-shirt colors for the design.

Button Design Parameters
  • The button designs must have a minimum diameter of 2.25 inches.
  • You can use portions of the T-shirt design or individual design elements for fundraising buttons, which we will sell at the festival. Additionally, we need two more button designs featuring different design elements for performers and vendors as souvenirs.
  • Submit the button designs as .jpeg or .png files at 300 dpi for the contest committee’s review.
